HR Pickling |
Presently we used both manual and push –pickling line. In manual pickling we used separate tank for HCL acid and Lime tank. All the process operated manually by dipping the HR Sheets to the acid tank and soaking for the required time period and after that soaking with lime water tank followed by water wash and finally completed the process after oiling.
Our in-house pickling facility has span of 5000mm x 2000mm x 400mm followed with equally large Soap solution tank for washing the acid pickled Steel sheets/ blanks.
The pickling line (push pickling) process will be equipped and covers the following innovations in technology for optimum productivity from this line in the following manner : |
Density meter on spent pickled liquor discharge is installed for balanced concentrations of the baths with respective temperature controls to obtain optimum speeds through the wet section. |
Automatic dosing arrangement of acid on pickle tank no.3 is installed with respect to the line speeds for realizing optimum consumption of fresh acid and balance concentrations in the last tanker for obtaining maximum efficiency. |
Strip temperatures are achieved in the optimum manner so as to bring in the heat to the respective tanks by optimized heat exchangers in recirculation tanks. |
4 nos. rinse tank used to the existing rinse section in the cascading mode to obtain chlorine levels to the minimum on surface of strip for cleanliness. |
Heat exchanger panel is extended to cater to the increased speed of the pickling line to 90 mpm. |
Pickling line being up rated to its maximum capacity can handle 60,000 tons of HR coils per annum which dictates the utilization of all units downstream. |
Before Pickling with Skin Pass process, the cold rolled annealed strips are given the desired surface finish. This improves the flatness and suppresses the yield point elongation. Anti-rust oil is used on the strip surface as protection from rust.
The hot rolled coil, which is the basic raw material, is passed through the Continuous Pickling Line (CPL) to remove the oxides or scales from the strip surface, thereby enabling further reduction of thickness to the desired level in the Cold Rolling Mill (CRM). This processing is necessary since rust is formed on the surface of the coils at room temperature, whereas scales are formed at a high temperature during rolling in the hot strip mill.
The maximum width of the strip can be pickled in the line are as 600 mm.
The installed production capacity of the CPL is 48000 tonnes per annum (MTPA) |
Regeneration & Effluent Treatment |
| The waste liquor from pickling line, recoiling line are treated in effluent treatment plant ensuring pollution free environment. The acid regeneration plant ensures regeneration of hydrochloric acid from waste pickled liquor for reuse in pickling line. |
| The important features of the Pickling Lines are: |
Turbulent Acid Bath: The pickling tanks are shallow tanks made of granite specially contoured to permit fast and trouble free threading. The specially arranged flow of acid in the tanks increases the rate of pickling by causing high turbulence of acid in the tank & thus enabling high speeds with low residence time & hence less length of the pickling tanks. |
Lo-Chlor: The special washing systems after the acid treatment are provided to ensure that the strips carry a very low chloride which helps in prolonging the life of the rolling mill coolant in the subsequent cold rolling operation, apart from ensuring longer self-life of pickled coils. |
Environment Friendly: The process sections feature special sealing of the tanks and an efficient fume exhaust and scrubbing system to ensure no release of acid fumes within the plant and exhaust stack release of less than 10 mg/m3 of free HCl. The lines can therefore conform to the most stringent air pollution control norms. |
Acid Recirculation System: The acid recirculation system to ensure good pickling quality and trouble free performance. All acid recirculation tanks are made from FRVE. All piping carrying acid at temperatures above 80° C. are also made from FRVE/Special grades of P.P. Instrumentation, meters and MMIs are provided in the system for continuous monitoring of the process parameters. |
Low Consumptions: The line ensures maximum utilization of the acid for pickling and least wastage through effluents, thus resulting into low consumption of acid per ton of production. Efficient recycling of acidic water in the system reduces drastically the consumption of water per ton. |
Low Effluents: The waste Pickling Liquor is very rich in iron contents and therefore low in volume. The acidic water effluent is also extremely low. |
